Reflections of…

Four months ago, I was offered a job with my company in Switzerland.  “Hot diggity,” says I, your fearless blogger, Expatica.  My better half (Expatico?  Does that work?  Anyway….) was just as excited.  Since the initial job offer until now, one week prior to our departure, we’ve learned that an international move is quite the challenge.  Between immigration, saying goodbye to loved ones, renting out our place, and the logistics that go with traipsing half way ’round the globe, there are so many issues that are unexpected, expected and everything in between.  We’ve hit some bumps, and are a bit bruised, but in the end, I think this entire experience can only make us as individuals and our entire little family, stronger.  I mean, who can say “Yes, while all my friends were settling down, having kids, and buying big ol’ houses, we decided to thumb our noses at it all and move 3500 miles away from our home.  Take that, suckahs!”

Now let’s just see if Expatico can actually join me on the adventure, how many boxes actually make it across the Atlantic undamaged, and whether or not our kitties will forgive us for shoving them into crates and putting them on a seven hour flight….alone.

It’s an adventure and we’re excited to embark on it.  I hope you’ll come along for the ride.

  1. We’re glad you guys are keeping afloat and keeping some humor… We’ll keep watching and keeping you both in our thoughts.

  2. looking fwd to all the stories and adventures, and living vicariously through da blog. 🙂

  3. While at the onset, this will be stressful, you are both gonna see in short time that this will be such a wonderful adventure! I cannot wait to hear about it all! Best Wishes!
